Charles Asuquo Effiong

Scholar in Theatre and Media studies, and is currently a lecturer in the Department of Theatre, Film and Carnival Studies of the University of Calabar, Calabar in Nigeria. Before joining the University of Calabar, he worked as a Journalist writing feature reports for Nigerian Newsworld Magazine and Nigerian Pilot Newspaper in Abuja, Nigeria. He later left journalism and worked at the Department of Performing Arts in Akwa Ibom  State University, also in Nigeria, as a lecturer for about four years, after completing a Ph.D degree 143 in Theatre and Media Studies. He has specific interest in critical theory and media aesthetics,in which his researches have been attempting to establish and espouse the importance of cultural values, and how theatre and media organs can make useful exploits of the dynamics based on global canons for the development and sustainability of the Nigerian cultural values and diplomacy.
